I wasn't trying to equate the 2 - you only have to listen to the 2 speak to hear the difference. I said Obama is very sharp. And yes, to be editor of harvard law review, you have to have more intellectual chops than most people. He's very, very smart. And Bill Clinton was a Rhodes Scholar (as was the guy who wrote Me and Bobby McGee), but I always thought Hilary was the smart one. Anyway, I listened to Obama's speech tonight and I just feel like it's more Madison Avenue packaging of platitudes ("yes we can"; the 15th variation on "change", etc). Now, don't get me wrong, if he can make people excited about his campaign and get them out there to the polls to vote for him, more power to him. I'm just deeply, deeply cynical about him actually being more than a stuffed shirt. If people want specifics, lets start with his energy policy (or lack thereof)....

Bill Clinton definitely used books for more than kindling and ballast.
Hilary is as smart or smarter.
But the media will tear the stuffing out of any stuffshirt who would be President...

It's the wrong job for a drip-dry intellect -
such as Adlai Stevenson, Estes Kefauver, George McGovern, Nelson Rockefeller, William F. Buckley, Dennis Kucinich, Howard Dean, Steve Forbes, Jerry Brown, Mario Cuomo...
sad but true, the people want a Ronnie Reagan, a man they can understand, who understands them.

No one guy (or gal) is going to solve the problems we're facing now...
or even put a believable spin on it.

We are cynical, heaven help us.

Where have you gone, Lloyd Bentsen, Dick Gebhardt, Ross Perot, Harold Stassen, Everett Dirkson, Bob Dole?

Come back!
Cause we're in some pretty deep shit now, and the good times are gettin' slim, jim...

so just smile, keep on truckin' and vote... for Mr. Nobody.

We don't get fooled again!
